Thank you!
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our past and present donors. We are grateful for your generous contributions, which continue to support many of our species at risk and ecosystem programs. Over the years, your donations have contributed directly to species at risk recovery, conservation volunteer programs, accommodation upgrades, youth outreach and more.
This featured campaign aims to raise funds for our Blanding's turtle nest protection program in 2026. Every year, in June, Blanding's turtles’ journey from their wetland homes to nest on lakeshores, roadsides, and gravel trails here in Kespukwitk (Southwest Nova Scotia). To support the ongoing recovery of this species at risk, MTRI staff and volunteers set out each evening to watch over the nesting females and protect their nests from predators. In the fall the teams set out again to track hatchling emergence and success. Your contribution will directly fund our nesting and emergence teams this year!
When you donate, as our gift, you'll receive a high-quality print of a Blanding's turtle photo or illustration of your choice.
$25 donation will receive a 4x6 print of your choice
$50 donation will receive a 5x7 print of your choice
$100 donation will receive a 8x10 print of your choice
Donations of $500 or more will have the opportunity to name a turtle and receive a custom hand-drawn illustration of that turtle.
Further, for each $25 you donate, you'll gain 1 entry into a draw to name a juvenile Blanding's turtle!
Watch for an e-mail from us within 2 weeks of making your donation to make arrangements to receive your chosen gift. Thank you for your support!
As builder and mentor, Steve shaped the direction of MTRI and inspired student researchers at Acadia University, MTRI and beyond. This award honours these contributions by providing support for post-secondary student research activities in conservation science.
The Clapp Conservation Award honours the remarkable efforts of Diane and Harold Clapp, founding members and long-standing volunteers who have led by example. The purpose of this award for high school and undergraduate students is to encourage and build youth capacity for conservation in southwest Nova Scotia.
