Monarch March

Soon, the Monarch butterflies will begin to emerge from their winter sleep in Mexico, getting ready to begin the journey north to lay their eggs. As the subsequent generations make their way to the northern region and finally reach us in Nova Scotia. The generation that hatches here will fly all the way to Mexico, a 5,000km flight, to reach the special forests to spend the winter.

MTRI is asking everyone to celebrate the massive flight and to raise awareness for this Endangered butterfly by marching during the month of March. Our goal is to collectively walk, jog, or run 5,000km for this amazing insect. Submission forms will open on March 1st, 2026!

Report Your March
