Staff Bio for John Brazner

John Brazner
Board Member

John worked as a Wetland and Bird Biologist with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables Wildlife Division for over a decade and for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for 20 years as a Research Fish Ecologist on Lake Superior. There was even a 5-year stint as a Wetland Policy Specialist with the NS Department of Environment and a few years working as a contract biologist with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on shark, loggerhead turtle, Atlantic salmon and striped bass research. His most recent work with DNRR was primarily focused on the biodiversity value of forested wetlands and old forests and developing indicators of ecosystem condition using bird communities. John retired from government and is happily pursuing a variety of conservation passion projects including assessing land-use impacts on bird communities associated with lakes and their adjacent riparian forests in western Nova Scotia, as well as acting as the Science Director for the Jijuktu’kwejk Watershed Alliance in the Annapolis Valley.
